To open the set, depress spring catches underneath set. The back is hinged at the top and can be lifted open. NEVER ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE BACK WHEN THE SET IS PLUGGED INTO AN ELECTRIC SUPPLY POINT
To Prepare for Mains Operation (200-250 volts; 40-100 cycles)
(1) Ensure that the receiver is set correctly to the electric supply
voltage in use. Adjustment is effected by connecting the fly lead to
the appropriate screw of the mains adjusting device (see illustration).
Use lowest screw for 200-214 Volts, middle screw for 215-234 Volts and
upper screw for 235-250 Volts; ensure that the fly lead fixing nut is
securely tightened after adjustment.
(2) Check that back is properly closed, and open flap by pressing
spring catch at top back of receiver; unwind mains lead from its
carrying cleat, close flap and insert mains lead connector in square
socket at back of set; a spring catch will be felt to engage, the set
is now switched for mains operation.
(3) If set appears" dead" when plugged into D.C. mains, remove and
reverse plug in mains supply socket.
To Prepare for Battery Operation
(1) Remove mains plug from the mains supply socket and mains lead
connector from back of set. This automatically changes over to battery
working.
(2)"Roll up" lead on cleat provided under back flap. If preferred,
mains lead can be left at home.
How to Operate (Mains or Battery)
(1) Slide the central wave change switch towards the initial letter of
the wave band required.
(2) Switch on by turning volume control (left hand knob) to the right.
(3) Tune to the station you require by means of the right hand knob.
Note particularly that this set has a frame aerial and signal strength
is greatest when the set points lengthwise in the direction of the
broadcasting station; when necessary the best position can be found by
turning the set until volume reaches a maximum or interference is
reduced to a minimum.
To Replace Dry Battery
(1) Lift back, carefully remove plug from H.T. or L.T. battery as
appropriate and turn retaining clip clear of battery.
(2) Remove old battery and replace with a new one. For H.T. replacement
use Drymax 529 or Ever Ready B129. For L.T. replacement use Drymax
H1186 or Ever Ready AD39.
(3) Replace plug in battery, making sure that it is fully home. Close
and secure back.
Important
To prevent damage to the set, the dry batteries must be replaced or
removed as soon as they have run down.
Valve Replacement
When valve replacement is necessary it is essential to use the correct
Mazda Valves which are (left to right, seen from the back) 1C2, 1F3,
1FD9 and 1P11.
