NIEAF moving coil [2000 Ohms/Volt] voltmeter in wooden case, 0-15-150-300 Volts DC. This instrument has suffered water damage. The meter pointer and the internal resistors were replaced by modern equivalents in March 1987. Working. Date unknown. Netherlands Instruments and Electrical Apparatus Factory.
This is one of many instruments collected by Jack Davidson C Eng FIEE which I have been given by Dr Graham Winbolt. At first this instrument was a mystery until I noted the faded makers initials on the scale plate.
History
In 1898 Societe d'Electricite et automobiles Mors was founded in
France, as was NIF [Netherlands Instruments Factory]in 1900 which
became NIEAF [Netherlands Instruments and Electrical Apparatus Factory]
in 1913. In 1984 Smitt [founded in the Netherlands in 1902] merged with
NIEAF.
