GEC Valve Voltmeter housed in a substantial wooden case and made for the General Electric Company by Salford Electrical Instruments in Warrington, UK. It has 5 ranges from 1.5v to 150v f.s.d. There is a separate probe unit containing a valve rectifier, and another power supply chassis in the base of the unit. UK, 1945?.
This is one of many instruments collected by Jack Davidson C Eng FIEE which I have been given by Dr Graham Winbolt
Meter movement
As received the instrument was very dirty and the meter glass was broken, this has been replaced with a piece of perspex as the original laminated glass had four notches for the retaining screws which would be beyond my competence to replace directly.
Power Supply
This has a centre tapped supply transformer a double diode rectifier [6X5] a 1000 ohm dropper and two 2mFd capacitors, one of which is marked APR 1944. The Heater voltage is taken to the centre pins of the 6 way Jones socket and the HT+ to the red one.
